Africa’s deadliest animals

We all think bigger the animal is, the more dangerous it is, but that is not the case. Any animal regardless of its size can be dangerous, even a small mosquito is dangerous if you consider the various diseases a mosquito bite can cause. Africa is a huge continent and home to some of the deadliest animals. These deadly animals cause a lot of casualties every year. Below is a list of some of the deadliest animals in Africa :

Hippopotamus: Hippo is responsible for causing the most human fatalities in Africa compared to other big animals and can be easily called Africa’s deadliest animal. They are very aggressive and violent tempered animals and your best defense is to stay away from them.

African Mosquito: Mosquitoes spread various diseases namely malaria, yellow fever, dengue. These diseases kill millions of Africans every year. Make sure you take the prescribed vaccination before you visit the prone areas.

African elephants- Contrary to the belief, elephants are not very gentle creature. African elephants are highly aggressive and most likely you’ll not bump into one outside protected reserves. They are too huge and too wild so the best defense against them is to hide yourself.

Great white shark- There has been some serious attacks by these white sharks off the coast of South Africa. They attack their prey and use their big teeth to drag them underwater. The divers in Africa need to avoid coming in contact with them.

The Black Mamba- It is the most famous and deadliest snake of Africa. The average length of this snake is about 8 feet and is the largest venomous snake in the world. The bite of this snake will prove fatal if the anti venom is not given in time.

Nile crocodile- Nile crocodile can be found in almost all the major rivers of Africa. These green eyed crocodiles are responsible for killing hundreds of people each year.

African Rhino- African Rhino are massive animals and there has been drastic reduction in their population. They are known to charge if annoyed or threatened. Rhinos are pretty blind so if you see them charging, run in zig-zag manner, they’ll have a tough time chasing then.

Cape buffalo- Included amongst the big 5 in Africa, Cape buffalo is another deadly animal. More hunters are killed by these buffaloes than lions, so stay away from them.
